Project in progress
Location: Saint-Pierre (alt. 800m), Réunion Island, France
Lead architect
Private client

Humid tropical climate of the highlands of Réunion - altitude of 800m
Average temperatures:
20-22°C in summer, 10-14 °C in winter
Rainfall: ~800–900 mm, frequent fog and low clouds
Wind: ~18km/h predominantly south-east, trade winds in southern winter
High relative humidity (80%), intense during the rainy season
Risk of tropical cyclones, heavy rainfall, landslides
Located in the highlands of Reunion Island, in the heart of a humid tropical environment, this lodge is part of a high-end tourist accommodation offering, designed as an immersive and distinctive alternative.
Nestled in the vegetation, the project prioritizes seamless integration into the landscape. Large openings frame privileged views and contribute to controlled natural ventilation, adapted to local climatic variations.
The bioclimatic design responds to the specific constraints of the island's highlands: protection against heavy rainfall, control ef the humidity and management of solar gain. Construction on a crawl space isolates the building from the damp ground, while landscaped drainage systems, in the form of trenches, guide and regulate rainwater runoff across the site.
